Impact of westerly and local winds across the country: Chance of rain and snow

Kathmandu. At present, there is a general change in the weather in Nepal due to the partial influence of western and local winds. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, it is generally cloudy in the mountainous areas of the country and partly cloudy in the hilly areas, while the weather is mainly clear in the Terai region.
At present, light rain and snowfall are occurring in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi Province as well as in few places in the Himalayan regions of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali Provinces.
It will be generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi region this afternoon as well and partly cloudy in the rest of the hilly areas. In the Terai districts, it is expected that the weather will be sunny and clear. Due to the possibility of light rain and snow with thunder and lightning, the department has requested to exercise caution in some places in the hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi Province and one or two places in other Himalayan areas including the hilly areas of Gandaki Province.
