Nawalparasi Holi, the festival of colours, is being celebrated today with great enthusiasm in Terai districts. According to the tradition of celebrating Holi in Terai districts the day after Fagu Poornima is celebrated in the Himalayan and hilly districts, today this festival is going to be celebrated with joy in this region.

Today, Holi is being celebrated in Nawalparasi Bardghat Sustapurva, Nawalparasi Rdghat Sustapaschim, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Udaipur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardia, Kailali, Kanchanpur and other districts.

The festival of Holi is celebrated with special importance in Navalparasi, Bardghat Sustapurva, where the Magar and Tharu communities live. Holi is considered as a festival of joy and color changing, which makes all kinds of differences disappear and colors each other.

Pandit Trilochan Bhurtel said that the festival of Holi, which paints everyone in the same color, is a source of inspiration for equality and harmony. "The symbol of truth over falsehood, integrity over deception and the victory of religion over injustice, Holi has been establishing unity in diversity", he said, "Holi has a special role in providing social harmony and joy along with religious importance."
