Hindu leaders banned from contesting elections in Bangladesh
Dhaka. A Hindu leader has been barred from contesting elections in Bangladesh. Elections are scheduled to be held in Bangladesh on February 12. Govind Chandra Pramanik had filed his candidature for the parliamentary elections from Gopalganj (3) constituency, but the election officer rejected his candidature on Saturday.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was MP from Gopalganj 3. More than 50 percent of voters here are Hindus. Govinda wanted to contest the elections independently. He is a lawyer by profession and also the general secretary of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajot. BJHM Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a Hindutva alliance of 23 organizations affiliated to the RSS.
