Government's decision to celebrate Genji Martyr's Day on August 23

Kathmandu. The government has decided to celebrate 23rd of August every year as Genji Martyr's Day. Jagdish Kharel, Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communications, gave this information about the cabinet meeting held on Monday. The government has also decided to provide identity cards with photographs to the mothers, fathers, wives, unmarried daughters and unmarried sons of those who lost their lives during the Genji movement. Earlier, the government has declared 45 people killed in the movement as martyrs.

The meeting also decided to promote Baikunth Prasad Aryal to the post of secretary. Aryal is currently working as the Chief Secretary of the Far West Province Government. Similarly, the Council of Ministers appointed Dr. as the President of the Press Council of Nepal. Government spokesperson Kharel said that it was decided to appoint Kumar Sharma Acharya.
