Cut the wedding feast and light the village
Kathmandu. A newly married couple from Mangala Rural Municipality-2 Kotrawang of Myagdi saved the expenses of their wedding feast and installed street lights in the village. Prakash Khatri and Radhika Dhital Khatri, who got married recently, have done an exemplary work by installing lights throughout the village with their own private investment. Locals have said that after this charity work, which was announced on 4th of June, it is very easy and safe to walk at night.
According to Purna Bahadur Bishwakarma, the president of Kotrawang Toll Reform Organization, after the lighting in the slum, people can now move around safely at night, and the fear of wild animals such as leopards has also decreased.
After seeing the lack of lights in the village, the Toll Reform Committee and Bihaani Ama Group proposed to this new couple about the need for street lights. Prakash and Radhika willingly accepted the proposal and provided 14 30 watt and 3 50 watt street lights as well as wires and all necessary materials at their own personal expense, President Vishwakarma informed.
