A new weather system is coming in again, chances of heavy rain in dozens of eastern districts

Kathmandu. Due to the weather system formed in the Arabian Sea, various parts of the country are currently experiencing rain and snow. Although the system will leave and improve from Wednesday, another weather system will enter again from Thursday evening. According to Meteorologist Ujjwal Upadhyay, the weather is going to be unfavorable again due to the effect of Cyclone 'Montha' developed in the Bay of Bengal. As the influence of the Arabian Sea weakens by Monday night, many places will see partial sunshine on Wednesday. However, since Thursday, the cyclone developed in the Bay of Bengal will move north-west and enter Nepal, so the risk of heavy rain and snowfall has increased again, he said.

Districts including Ilam, which were affected by severe floods and landslides last October, are at greater risk this time too, according to meteorologists. From Thursday evening to Friday noon, there is a possibility of rainfall of up to 200 mm in Ilam, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Tehrathum, Panchthar, Khotang and Jhapa districts.

Cyclone 'Montha' will enter Nepal through Parsa, Bara, Rautahat on 13th evening. As its epicenter is located in the eastern part of Narayani and Trishuli rivers, it is expected that there will be widespread rain in the districts of Bagmati and Terai. The impact of this system is predicted to be moderate from Trishuli River to Karnali River and will have minimal impact towards western Nepal. Due to the influence of the Arabian Sea, there has already been heavy snowfall in high places such as Mugu, Dolpa, Humla, Jumla, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi, Rukum East. This has made trekking difficult in many places.

The meteorologist has urged people to exercise extreme caution while traveling on the BP highway, Prithvi highway and Kathmandu-Hetauda connecting road sections from Thursday noon. The weather department has forecast that there may be 70 to 80 millimeters of rain in Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas.
