Minister Ghisingh urges the Government not to obstruct the waste management while implementing the commitments made with the locals of Bancharedanda

Kathmandu. The government is going to implement the commitment made to the affected local residents of the Bancharedanda landfill site to dispose of waste in the Kathmandu Valley. Some time ago, the local residents of Bancharedanda obstructed the waste management work in the valley saying that the government did not fulfill their demands. Kulman Ghisingh, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development visited the landfill site on October 16 and promised to fulfill the demands that could be fulfilled immediately within 15 days after the waste disposal was interrupted.

Minister Ghising telephoned the protestors on Tuesday and asked them not to obstruct the dumping of garbage and withdraw all the programs of the protest as the promised points have been implemented.

In accordance with the demand of the locals, the installation of lights for night waste management at the landfill site has been completed. According to the same commitment, the coordination committee of the affected Dhunivesi municipality and the chairman of Kakani rural municipality and the chief administrative officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality has been formed under the coordination of the secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development.

The committee has prepared a progress report on the implementation of the agreements made in the past. A letter has been sent to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to distribute compensation to the victims of Dhading and Nuwakot near the landfill site according to the method adopted by the Committee for Compensation and Compensation for the time being.
