8 billion spent on the north-south road, black paper target up to Korla
Kathmandu. As part of the north-south trade route expansion project, Rs. The project has spent 82 percent of the budget while the proposed cost estimate of the project is Rs 10.57 billion till FY 2081-82.
Under the Korla road of national pride connecting India and China, a 202 km road track has been opened from Maludhunga in the mountain to Nepal-China Korlana. According to the decision of the Council of Ministers on November 12, 2073, Kaligand Corridor 9Beni-Jomsam-Korla road was established as a separate project. Under which the project has been continuously upgrading the roads in Parbat, Myagdi and Mustang sections since 2073 and 74. The last revised completion period of the project has been proposed for the year 2082 and 2083. But since the road up to Korlanaka needs to be paved, it is certain that the completed period will be revised again.
Under this Kaligandaki Corridor road project, the target is to open 202 km of road tracks, 97 km of road gravel, 150 km of tarmac and 19 bridges. According to the target, by the year 2081 and 2082, the project has opened 202 kilometers of road tracks, 94 kilometers of road gravel, 88 kilometers of black paper and construction of 14 bridges have been completed, project chief Tejashwi Sharma has informed.
For Korla road, through the project, 3 km of gravel and 10 km of Kagbeni-Chusang will have to be blacked on 27 km of the road and a new contract will have to be issued for the rest. Under this project, if the 9 Kagbeni-Korla road section is also covered with black, the total cost estimate of the project may be more than 15 billion, according to the head of the project Sharma. According to the head of the project, the goal is to upgrade the road and blacken the entire 202 km double lane of the Korla road section and build the necessary bridge.
