72 days before the election: In this case, he will be disqualified from the proportional list

Kathmandu. It has been stipulated that any person who is receiving salary from the government, state government or local level organization receiving a salary will be disqualified if he is on the list of candidates on the proportional side on behalf of the political party.

Candidates who have been punished according to the laws in force regarding elections will be disqualified even if they have not paid for two years from the date of serving such punishment. The Election Commission has fixed the date for the election of members of the House of Representatives for the upcoming 21st of February.

165 people will be elected through direct election system in the total 275-member House of Representatives. Similarly, 110 people will be selected through the proportional election system. Last time, the Commission formed a committee regarding the proportional election system and conducted the necessary study and determined the percentage based on the population.

According to the First Amendment Guidelines for Members of the House of Representatives Proportional Election, 2082, those who have committed crimes related to corruption, coercion, human trafficking and trafficking, drug sales, distribution and export or smuggling, money laundering, passport misuse, kidnapping will be declared ineligible.

There is provision for such candidates to be disqualified if they have been convicted of any other criminal offense of moral turpitude or sentenced to life imprisonment or imprisonment of 20 years or more for any offence, even if such judgment is final.
