The 2570th birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha, the bearer of the age-old message that 'non-violence is the cornerstone of peace and friendship', the forerunner of peace, is being celebrated today with various programs across the country. This festival, which is celebrated every year on the full moon day of Baisakh Shukla, is celebrated by Buddhists with special reverence as the trinity of Buddha's birth, enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana death.

Devotees are thronging the Chaityas, Gumbas and Viharas across the country to worship, worship and listen to the sermons of Buddha, who is also worshiped as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
