World Cup Global Qualifier: Nepal lost to Thailand

Kathmandu. Nepal lost to Thailand by eight wickets in the opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. Chasing the target of 123 runs given by Nepal, Thailand won by losing two wickets in 16.5 overs in today's match at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Nathakan Chantham contributed an unbeaten 57 for Thailand. He contributed 57 runs by hitting nine fours and one six off 29 balls.

Nanpat Koncharonkai scored 32 and Officera Suwanchonrathi scored 28 runs. On the bowling side, Nepal's Sita Ranamar took two wickets. Before that, Nepal, who lost the toss and were invited to bat first, lost all the wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and made a total of 122 runs.

Bindu Rawal scored the highest 44 runs for Nepal. He scored 44 runs off 56 balls by hitting six fours. Similarly, Khadka scored 26 runs in 11 balls. Rubina Chhetri scored 17 runs off 10 balls with two sixes and a four while Pooja Mahato scored 12 runs. Apart from that, other players could not score runs in double figures.

For Thailand, Thipatcha Puthavong took three wickets, Onnita Kamchompu took two wickets and Chanida Sutharuwang Suliporn Laomi and Sunida Chaturogratana took one wicket each. Nepal will play its second match against the Netherlands on January 8.
