Bardia. Tiger counting has been started for the fifth time in Bardia National Park from today. Govind Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, said that by installing cameras inside the park, Magh counting has been started. According to him, the number of tigers in Bardia National Park has increased significantly in recent years. Here, the number of tigers has increased by eight times. Along with the growth of tigers, the challenge of conservation in this area has also increased.

However, on the same day that the tiger count began, Parvati Dangi died when a tiger attacked her in the Fenapati Community Forest of Barbardia Municipality-10 Baidi. Nepal had set a goal of doubling the number of tigers within a decade according to international targets. According to Secretary Sharma, the increase in tigers is more than the target. According to the information provided by the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department, there are currently 355 tigers in Nepal, including about 125 in Bardia alone.

Recently,21 tigers have died. Ashok Ram, Chief Conservation Officer of Bardia National Park, said that the tigers in the park and community forest have died due to floods, poaching, fighting among themselves and natural causes.


Conservation, protection, habitat expansion and poaching control are considered to be the main reasons for the increase in the number of tigers. After the last count of the tigers, the facts about the effect of conservation can be presented. However, the fact that human-wildlife conflict has also increased with the increase in the number of tigers has been accepted by both officials and locals.
