Why is there opposition to Ani appointed as Lumbini Development Fund Vice President?
KATHMANDU - Protests have started after the cabinet meeting decided to appoint singer Ani Choing Dolma as the vice president of the Lumbini Development Fund, which has been vacant for about five months, on October 30. One side has demanded to cancel the appointment, raising questions about Ani's past and personal details.
The party opposing Ani's appointment is protesting by forming Lumbini Bachau Mahabhiyan itself. Akram Khan, coordinator of the campaign, said that they have been holding protest programs since October 31. He informed that public meetings, press conferences, protest rallies, sit-ins and sieges will continue until the appointment is revoked. Along with the locals of Lumbini, the leaders of various sectors have protested against the decision and demanded the immediate cancellation of the decision.
