Voting today for the next leadership election in UML, interesting competition between Oli-Ishwar panel
Kathmandu. CPN-UML's 11th National Congress held in Kathmandu today is voting for the next leadership election. According to the schedule of the party's Central Election Commission, voting will be held today from 12 noon to 6 pm. Current President KP Sharma Oli and Senior Vice President Ishwar Pokharel have entered the fray with separate panels for the leadership of the party for the next five-year term. Pokharel has challenged Oli who is going to become the president for the third time in the 11th Congress.
Oli was elected as the president from the party's ninth and tenth congresses. Vishnu Paudel, Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal', Guru Baral and Prithvisubba Gurung are contesting for the election from Oli's panel.
From Oli's panel, the current general secretary Shankar Pokharel has been replaced as the general secretary. Raghuveer Mahaseth, Vishnu Rimal and Lekhraj Bhatt are in the electoral competition for three deputy general secretaries from Oli's panel.
Padma Aryal, Chavi Lal Vishwakarma, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Khagraj Adhikari, Yamlal Kandel, Sherdhan Rai, Mahesh Basnet, Hikmat Karki and Rajan Bhattarai are contesting for nine secretaries.
