"Unity wins elections not by criticism" — Surendra Pandey's restrained response to Oli's comment

Kathmandu. Leader Surendra Pandey has expressed a clear and balanced opinion about the bitterness within CPN-UML due to public expression. Without getting into a direct dispute with party president KP Sharma Oli's comments targeting him, Pandey raised questions about the role of leadership at the sensitive time of the election.

Reacting through social media, Pandey mentioned that keeping the party united during the election is the main responsibility of the leadership. In such a situation, the words of the leadership should not weaken the morale of the workers, but should give strength to connect everyone.

He considered ideological differences to be a natural political process and made it clear that he does not have the culture of underestimating anyone if there is a difference of opinion. Pandey says, "Friends who have ideological disagreements are equally respected by UML."

Even though there was dissatisfaction within the party regarding ticket distribution, Pandey said that it was accepted for the benefit of the party. "We accepted the calculation of ticket distribution without any objection," he wrote, "but prejudiced comments on the common resolve to win the party do not have any positive meaning."

Commenting that it is not political maturity to publicly minimize comrades within the party, Pandey has expressed the opinion that it is necessary to face external competition based on institutional decision and collective opinion. He said that now he is not wasting time in refuting the comments and is working on the ground to win the UML candidate and protect the reputation of the organization.

Earlier, President Oli had publicly commented on leaders including Surendra Pandey, Yogesh Bhattarai, Binda Pandey and Gokul Baskota and raised questions about their electoral prospects. Pandey's reaction came at a time when Oli's statement created discomfort within the party.
