Kathmandu. Deputy General Secretary of Nepal Communist Party UML Pradeep Gyawali has said that his party will move ahead with the preparation of elections and the issue of re-establishment of parliament. In the meeting held today at Sunbal here, he said that the government is not going to create an environment to hold elections on February 21.
Deputy Secretary General Pradeep Gyawali insisted that the re-establishment of parliament is also necessary to address the demands of the Genji youth generation. He opined that the security challenges for the elections are due to the fact that the security personnel's weapons were looted during the election demonstration and more than 5,000 prisoners are still outside.
"Again, we can move forward with understanding. After a fair investigation of the events of August 23 and 24, negotiations with Genji representatives and an agreement on the minimum issues, the re-establishment of the parliament can be carried out by consensual elections from the elected people's representatives, said Deputy Secretary General Gyawali.
He said that since the convention of the party has been fixed, now the matter of leadership will be decided by the convention itself.
