Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has warned that it could be "very bad" for the future of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) if European countries do not help open the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said this in an interview given to the Financial Times. He expressed hope that China would also help open the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, about 90 percent of the oil used by China is supplied through this strait.

Trump said he expects China to take some steps ahead of a meeting between him and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing scheduled for late March. "There are still two weeks left for the meeting, that is a long time," he said. He has also hinted that his visit to China may be postponed, but he has not given any more clear details about it.
