Trump's ban on 'Birth Tourism', no longer getting citizenship based on being born in the US

Main News Image

Kathmandu.  US President Donald Trump has again tried to curtail the rights of birthright citizenship in the US. Trump has taken a new step a few weeks after the Supreme Court rejected a similar attempt.

On Thursday, Trump signed two executive orders. The first order further expands the definition of non-citizens who are ineligible for citizenship. The second order bans a practice called 'birth tourism', in which pregnant women come to the US only with the intention of making their child a US citizen. Trump said, "This work should have been done years ago, but we are now managing it." In the process, he also criticized the Supreme Court for blocking his previous attempt to end this 150-year-old policy.
