KATHMANDU: On the eve of the United States' 250th anniversary, President Donald Trump has delivered a strong political message, claiming that a new threat to the nation's identity has emerged. He alleged that the challenge has grown from "radicals and extremists" within the country.

During a speech filled with patriotism, President Trump praised "American exceptionalism" and paid tribute to four of the nation's great past leaders while standing at Mount Rushmore. At the base of that historic monument, he said, "As we approach this grand anniversary, we are witnessing a new assault on our American identity."

He further alleged that a "communist threat is rising once again within the country." Trump has been repeating such comments in recent weeks, targeting the left-wing faction within the Democratic Party.
