Trekking at Annapurna Base Camp halted: Tourists brought to Narchang and Bhurung hot springs
Myagdi. Tourists who went on a visit to tourist spots in Myagdi and Mustang are in trouble after snowfall accompanied by light rain. Since last night, there has been light rain in the hilly areas and snowfall in the upper areas. Pramesh Gurung, Ward President of Waragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality (1) of Mustang, informed that the tourists who came to visit because of the snowfall stopped at the place where they stayed.
"It is not possible to carry out traffic and hiking because of the snow on the roads and footpaths," he said.
Muktinath, Lomanthang, Charang and other upper areas have experienced snowfall with light rain. Tourists visiting Annapurna base camp, Panchkunda Lake, Ghodepani, Khopralek, Mohredanda, Kokhedanda in Myagdi have also been affected due to rain and snowfall. Hotelier Tej Gurung of Humkhola, which is at the entry point of the Maurice Herzog footpath connecting the Annapurna base camp, informed that there has been no traffic on the footpath since this morning. "In the past, 500 tourists came every day, but only 200 came on Monday", he said, "Today's walk has been postponed due to rain and snow."
Lok Bahadur Pun, the Ward President of Annapurna Rural Municipality (4) informed that the tourists who reached the Annapurna base camp through the Maurice Herzog footpath by managing the traffic till 12:00 last night, were swept away in Narchang and Bhurung hot water. Dam Bahadur Pun, a hotelier of Ghodepani, informed that the tourists had postponed their trek due to bad weather.
