Main News Image

Kathmandu. Only 16 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) have been selected in the staff college entrance examination under Masters of Police Science (MPS), which is made mandatory for promotion to higher levels in Nepal Police. This is the second DSP team selected for MPS. Since last year, MPS course has been implemented for the officers who will be promoted to the higher level of police. Those who joined the Police Inspector (Inspector) in the year 2070 and have now become DSPs took the Staff College entrance exam this year. A total of 89 DSPs participated in the exam, only 16 passed.

Among those who passed, DSP Vikas Bam stood first, Hariprasad Paudel second and Praveen Karki stood third. Passed DSPs will study Staff College for 2026. Police officers who do not pass this course will be ineligible for promotion above SSP. Tribhuvan University conducted the entrance exam for MPS on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of November. The exam results were announced on Sunday.

On the other hand, some DSPs have filed a writ in the Supreme Court claiming that the introduction of staff college course in the police is unfair. The case is currently pending.
