Tortoise speed of budget implementation in Karnali Province: Development expenditure under 20% in 8 months

Surkhet. Even though the Karnali state government has passed the two quarter period of the current financial year, it has not been able to show encouraging results in the implementation of the budget. After the end of 8 months of February of the financial year 2081, 82, the development budget of the province is very disappointing. Since the provincial government could not spend even 20 percent of its total capital budget during this period, the development and construction works were often seen at a standstill. According to the State Controller of Accounts Office, the Karnali State Government has spent only 19.64 percent of its development budget, i.e. Rs.
The government had announced the annual budget of 32 billion 99 crore 66 lakh 55 thousand rupees for the current financial year. However, even after two-thirds of the year is over, there is still a budget balance of 26 billion 51 million 566 thousand 434 rupees in the government's treasury. This has raised serious questions about the province's financial management and ability to implement plans.
