Kathmandu. The commission of inquiry investigating the incidents that took place on August 23 and 24 has summoned the then Home Minister Ramesh Ukhar for a statement. After the statement with the administrative and security leadership, the commission started the statement process at the political level. According to Commission spokesperson Vigyanraj Sharma, a letter has been sent to the author to appear before the Commission on Tuesday. In the letter, it is asked to come to the commission within seven days and give a statement.

Spokesperson Sharma informed that after the statements of those who were in the leadership of the administration and security agencies during the agitation, the interrogation of the political leadership was started. At the same time, a letter was sent to the then Home Minister in the first step. According to the Commission, preparations are being made to send a letter to the then Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli for a statement.


The government formed an inquiry commission under the leadership of former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki to investigate the incidents of August 23 and 24. The commission was initially given a three-month deadline, but the government recently extended it by one month. The Karki-led commission said that the statement of the then Prime Minister Oli, the Home Minister, and some political figures including the author have yet to be taken within the specified time. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has started taking statements from the then Ministers who were members of the Security Council after interrogating the Home Minister.
