The identity of the scooter driver who died in a collision with a tipper in Banepa, the tipper driver was arrested
Kathmandu. The identity of the scooter driver who died after being hit by a tipper in Banepa has been identified. According to District Police Office Kavre, the deceased is 31-year-old Oman Pradhan, who is a resident of Dhulikhel Municipality 8 in Kavre and currently resides in Dhulikhel Municipality 5.
Police also arrested 32-year-old Deepak Rokka, a tipper driver involved in the accident, of Indrawati Rural Municipality 6, Sindhupalchowk. Pradhan died on the spot when a scooter numbered BPR02063P 9189 was hit by a tipper numbered BPR01 004A 3423 at Banepa Municipality 7 Chandni Chowk around 8:30 on Wednesday morning.
At first, he could not be identified. Later DSP Ravin Bist of District Police Office Kavre informed that Pradhan was identified on the basis of driver's license. The body of the deceased has been kept by the police at Sir Memorial Hospital. Locals set fire to the tipper that hit the scooter. Due to the arson, the situation there became tense for a while.
Due to the protest of the locals, traffic was also blocked on Arani highway for a while. The police said that after the tipper that had caught fire was removed from the road, the traffic has now resumed.
