The draft code of conduct for February 21 elections is released: the names of those who break the rules will be announced

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has released a draft of the Election Code of Conduct-2082 for advice and suggestions aimed at the election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on February 21. The Commission has taken this step to ensure a fear-free environment while maintaining freedom, cleanliness, fairness, transparency and frugality in elections. 10 paragraphs and five schedules have been included in this draft prepared using the authority given by Section 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073.
According to the commission, the previous election code of conduct 2079 will be repealed with the implementation of the new code of conduct. Some new and strict provisions are included in the code of conduct this time, under which it is arranged that the name of the person or entity violating the code of conduct will be made public.
Similarly, the commission has adopted a strategy to make high use of electronic means or information technology in compliance and monitoring of the code of conduct. In the draft, it is also provided that the political parties must publish their election manifesto.
