The death toll in the Bhotekoshi flood reached 1,457
Kathmandu. The death toll in the Bhotekoshi flood has reached 1,457. The police headquarters released the details up to 6 o'clock this morning and said that two people who were seriously injured in the flood died during treatment in Kathmandu.
According to the police, 236 people lost their lives in Rasuwa, 205 in Nuwakot, 73 in Dhading, 369 in Chitwan, 80 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West. Procedures including DNA sample collection for the identification of dead bodies collected after the flood have been initiated. It is mentioned in the details that 1 thousand 335 dead bodies have been managed so far. However, it is reported that 1,438 bodies have not been identified and 4,720 people are still missing.
Meanwhile, 1,231 people who were displaced due to the flood have been kept in holding centers in different districts and managed according to the police headquarters.
