Supreme Court's order to refer the writ against the Constitutional Council Ordinance to the Constitutional Bench

Main News Image

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has ordered that the case be sent to the Constitutional Bench for the final decision on whether or not to register a writ against the controversial Constitutional Council Ordinance issued by the government.

On Monday, the single bench of the Supreme Court Judge Meghraj Pokharel issued an order to send the writ within the purview of the constitutional bench, considering that a serious legal explanation is needed on this matter. According to the order of the court, the demand for annulment of the ordinance raised in this petition falls within the clear jurisdiction of the constitutional bench according to Article 137 of the Constitution and since it is seen that the petition related to the annulment of the administrative bench order should be considered by the constitutional bench itself, it has been asked to submit it to the constitutional bench according to the regulations.
