Supreme Court orders speedy conclusion of transitional justice

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has issued a mandate to investigate the complaints related to transitional justice and bring them to a speedy conclusion. The Constitutional Bench of Permanent Chief Justice Sapna Pradhan Malla, Judges Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Dr. Nahkul Subedi, Abdul Aziz Muslim and Tek Prasad Dhungana issued a mandate on Tuesday in the name of the government to speedily conclude the investigation of the complaints filed by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Inquiry into Disappeared Persons.
"In order to remove obstacles to access to justice, a mandate has been issued to effectively proceed with the investigation and quickly conclude the complaints registered in the two commissions", Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala said in a statement today, "A mandate has been issued in the name of the government to implement the previous orders and directives on this matter."
