Signs of improvement in Kathmandu's traffic management: Actions are decreasing, discipline is increasing
Kathmandu. Efforts to improve traffic management in the capital Kathmandu are intensifying. Despite the increasing traffic pressure, narrow roads and weak traffic discipline of the citizens, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has shown some improvement through the combination of technology, public awareness and strictness. According to Navraj Adhikari, head of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, there has been significant improvement in traffic management compared to the past.
In a conversation with Nepal News Bank, he informed that more training, public awareness programs and the use of modern technology have been prioritized for the traffic police. He also said that programs like Traffic Week are being conducted. Which has increased the awareness of traffic rules among common citizens and road users. He said that school-centered programs, driver and labor education, community-level traffic awareness programs are also having a positive impact.
