Kathmandu: The Department of Money Laundering Investigation has raided the home and office of Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya. The department carried out the raid on Monday on suspicion that he had concealed illicit assets.
The department raided his construction company, Baniya Nirman Sewa BNS, located in Sanopokhara, Hetauda, as well as his house there, and took away documents. According to sources, the department also carried out raids in Naxal and Sundhara, Kathmandu. Baniya, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress Bagmati Province Committee, had been associated with a construction business company until a few years ago.
