Main News Image

Bardia. The government had fixed the minimum support price of rice at the time to provide a fair price of rice to the farmers. Although the minimum support price of paddy was fixed, the farmers were not able to get the price of paddy. Taratal Sanakisan Krishi Cooperative Society in Madhuvan Municipality 7 purchased paddy at the support price after the local traders of Bardia bought paddy at a price lower than the farmer support price.

Taratal Sankisan, which started purchasing paddy from last October 1, has already purchased 3500 quintals of paddy. Farmers felt relief after purchasing paddy. Sanakisan Cooperative has started purchasing rice at support price after the traders bought the rice produced by their share members at a low price. Currently, there is a crowd of farmers selling paddy in Sankisan. The purchase of paddy has already started before Tihar.

The government has fixed the support price of coarse paddy at 3463 rupees per quintal, while the support price of medium paddy has been fixed at 3,628 rupees per quintal. But traders have purchased paddy at 2500 to 2800. Tank Prasad Paudel, a farmer of Madhuvan Municipality Ward No. 9, said that because the traders did not give the price of the rice, he brought the rice to Taratal Sanakisan to sell it. He said that the farmers were relieved because the cooperative had purchased paddy.
