Main News Image

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has instructed the heads of the relevant security agencies to immediately remove squatter settlements built on public land in various major cities of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.

In a high-level security meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, on Saturday, Prime Minister Shah directed that the encroachment removal campaign should be carried out at a rapid pace from next Sunday, saying that due to the occupation of public property for a long time, development works have stalled and the urban beauty and environment have also been adversely affected.

Concluding that the problem of public land encroachment, which has been controversial for a long time, cannot be given more time, the Prime Minister has asked the security chiefs to make an immediate action plan and move forward.
