One killed, 6 workers injured in blast at Rautahat's Jyoti Distillery
Kathmandu. One person died and six workers were injured when a boiler fuel or water heating container exploded at Jyoti Distillery located in Kataharia Municipality-9 of Rautahat on Saturday morning. According to Sai Dharmendra Paudel of the area police office, Katharia, who reached the spot, Lakshman Yadav, aged 35-40, of Baluwa village, Katharia Municipality-9, died on the spot. As the explosion was very powerful, the police gave preliminary information that the distillery premises were also damaged.
The condition of some of the injured is said to be serious. They have been referred to Birganj by ambulance after initial treatment. Police said that the identity of the injured and the concrete cause of the explosion are yet to be revealed. It is estimated that the number of injured and dead in the accident may increase.
After the incident, panic has spread among the locals. Security personnel have taken control of the scene and tightened the security arrangements to prevent possible further damage.
District Police Chief SP Robin Karki confirmed the incident and informed that more teams have been mobilized for investigation. Meanwhile, the locals have accused the negligence of the distillery operator for causing such a big accident.
