On the second day, the protest continued in Banchare Danda, the garbage truck stopped on the way

Kathmandu. The residents of Banchare Danda have continued their protest by stopping the dumping of garbage in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday as well. The locals blocked around 300 vehicles on the second day as well, saying that their demands were not met. According to Prakash Hamal, Ward President of Dhunibensi Municipality (3), the locals have been blocking the landfill site since Thursday morning. There was a discussion yesterday, but since no conclusion was reached, the movement has not stopped even today. About 300 vehicles carrying garbage of Kathmandu metropolis have been stopped, President Hamal said.

According to Amrit Tamang, a participant in the movement, some new demands have been added, while some old demands are still incomplete. On Wednesday, the discussion with Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising ended without any agreement. About 1400 tons of garbage is being transported to Banchare Danda, with 700 tons from Kathmandu and another 700 tons from other municipalities. While the locals are alleging that their demands have been ignored, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been claiming that most of the demands have been fulfilled.
