Offer 6 months maternity leave to mother and 42 days to father

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Food Safety has sent the draft to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for the amendment of five laws related to the health sector. In the amendment draft of Safe Maternity and Reproductive Health Rights Act, 2075, it is proposed to give at least 6 months paid maternity leave to mothers and 42 days paid maternity care leave to fathers. There is a proposal to increase the 98 days of maternity leave that mothers get to 6 months.

In the draft provision of skilled health workers in health institutions providing maternity services, respectable maternity services and legal provisions to prevent physical or mental violence against pregnant and post-partum women are also proposed.
