Kathmandu. Nagadhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel has reached the stage of operation. This project, built with the aim of making travel between Dhading and Kathmandu easier and faster, is expected to make a significant leap in the country's transport infrastructure. The initial cost of this project, which was laid by the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in October 2076, was estimated to be around 22 billion rupees. But due to geological complications, design changes and other technical reasons, the cost has increased to over 27 billion rupees.
The Japanese company Hazma-Ando JV took charge of the construction with the help of concessional loan from the Japanese government. Initially, the goal was set to be completed within 42 months, but due to various challenges, the construction work was completed in the year 2082. At present, the work of landslide control and toll plaza construction towards Dhading has reached its final stage.
