NOC will give scholarship to 14 players, agreement reached

Kathmandu. Nepal Olympic Committee NOC is going to give scholarships to athletes who play Olympic sports, Asian sports and youth Olympic sports. NOC is going to give scholarships to 14 players of different sports. In a press conference on Friday, the NOC signed an agreement with the players and their families and related associations to give scholarships to eight players in badminton, wushu, cycling, table tennis, tennis, judo, sports climbing and swimming for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in America, five players in archery, boxing, karate and wushu in the 2026 Aichi Nagoya Asian Games in Japan and one player for the Youth Games.

The eight athletes for the Los Angeles Olympics are Prince Dahal of badminton, Usha Khanal of cycling, Sadbhava Acharya of golf, Manita Shrestha Pradhan of judo, Ivana Thapa of table tennis, Sivali Thapa of tennis, Tenzing Rai of sports climbing and Ervin Shrestha of swimming. They will receive 1125 US dollars every four months through the association.

Similarly, five players for the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games are Tilak Punmagar of archery, Chandra Bahadur Thapa of boxing, Erika Gurung and Sanumaya Thing of karate and Sushmita Tamang of Ushu. Similarly, Ushu's Rashmi Tamang has been selected for the Youth Olympic Games.  NOC President Jeevanram Shrestha informed at the press conference that the athletes of the Asian Games and Youth Olympics will get 50,000 rupees each. 

The players have expressed their happiness after signing the scholarship agreement.
