New classification of players, addition of 'A Plus' category for the first time

Kathmandu. Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has announced the new central contract of national cricket players for the year 2026 and the new salary structure. This new classification has been decided based on the level and performance of the players in the domestic and international competitions of 2025,026, according to CAN spokesperson Chumbi Lama. This time, besides increasing the number of players included in the contract, the salary has been increased by Rs 5,000 per month in all categories.

This year, CAN has divided a total of 63 athletes, 38 men and 25 women, into different categories. For the first time in the history of cricket, a special arrangement has been made for the men's 'A Plus' category, in which only ODI team captain Rohit Kumar Paudel, T20I captain Dipendra Singh Airi and leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane are included.
