Kathmandu. Amrit Jha, a Nepali youth who was under the control of the Iranian army, was released on Wednesday. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jha, who was captured from Iran's Hormuz Island region, was released by the Iranian side after a long diplomatic effort. Background of the incident Amrit Jha, 33 years old from Gaighat, Triyuga Municipality (11) in Udaipur, was working as a ship captain sea pilot in a company called 'Black Sea Marine LLC' in Dubai for the past two years.
In the first week of March, Iranian security personnel detained him along with seven other crew members on an oil cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Dubai. Government Initiatives and Release Foreign Affairs Minister Shishir Khanal has confirmed that Jha has been released and informed that he is now in contact with the Nepali Consul in Iran and the Nepali Embassy in Qatar.
