Nepali cricket team returns home from Asian Games: Despite registering a historic victory, rain became an obstacle
Kathmandu. After participating in the 20th Asian Games, the Nepalese national men's cricket team has returned home tonight from Tokyo, Japan. Officials of the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) welcomed the returning team players and officials at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
Although the Nepali team failed to win a medal in the Asian Games this time, it gave an excellent and historic performance in the group stage. Nepal managed to register a historic victory after 12 years by defeating Test nation Afghanistan by 5 wickets in the group stage match.
However, in the later stages of the competition, rain became the main obstacle for the team. In the last match of the group stage, due to rain, the hosts had to share points with Japan, but Nepal became the group winner and reached the quarterfinals. Rain also added to the disappointment in that match for Nepal, who faced a strong competitor, Sri Lanka, in the quarter-finals.
