According to local people, there is a legend that the religious importance of this area has been there since the time of King Manimukunda Sen of Palpa. That is why Downne Devi Temple is known as a historical temple, said Harihar Subedi, Chairman of Downne Devi Temple Management Committee. A big fair is held here especially on the occasion of Badadasain, Chaitedsain, Sripanchami and other festivals. President Subedi said that the Lower Devi temple is worshiped as Shaktipeeth. Subedi said that locals also come to the temple to perform weddings and vows.
There are also religious places like Lakshminarayan Temple, Shivalaya, Gayatri Temple, Gumba in this area. Chairman Subedi informed that the Downne Devi Temple Management Committee is also running a cowshed. He said that devotees flock here on public holidays. "There is a large crowd of devotees here during Dasain, while at other times on public holidays, significant number of devotees come here", said President Subedi.
He says that people come here not only for religious pilgrimage but also for sightseeing as it is a naturally beautiful place.
