More than 23,000 benefited in Traffic Week, 'Small Carelessness Big Accident' message

Kathmandu. On the fourth day of the traffic week, the traffic police conducted a comprehensive awareness program at various locations in Kathmandu Valley. Under the project of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshahpath, accident reduction special campaign and traffic week 2082 are being conducted with the slogan "Reduction of civilized citizens, reduction of road accidents is the responsibility of all of us".

The traffic week that started on January 26 will last until January 3. According to the traffic police, various programs are being conducted throughout this period to spread public awareness about road safety, traffic rules and responsible road use.

As part of the campaign, on the fourth day alone, 6,521 passengers and pedestrians were taught how to cross the road safely using zebra crossing. Similarly, one-day eye health examination of 600 drivers, traffic awareness has been provided to 951 students of schools and colleges.

The traffic police has mobilized 393 traffic volunteers and 2,217 people have been given special alert at night. 2 thousand 397 drivers and operators have been directly communicated with through the 2-minute program. Also, 5,205 two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers have been informed through awareness program.

236 people who engage in risky behaviors such as lane violation, drunken driving, traffic light violation and speeding have been made to participate in the awareness class. Similarly, 615 people have been made aware about reservation seats and passenger-friendly behavior, 100 people have participated in civil hearings and 1430 people have participated in Prabhatferi program.

516 drivers and passengers have been wished for a safe journey and 357 people have been warned about legal action. Traffic awareness has also been provided to 1,170 examinees who took the written test of driver's license. Similarly, training has been given to 65 Nepali Army personnel working at Tribhuvan International Airport.
