Mha (Self) being worshiped in the Newar community
Kathmandu. On the day of Kartik Shukla Pratipada today Mha Atma Pooja is being performed in the Newar community. Every year on the day of Kartik Shukla Pratipada people of Newar community celebrate Atma Mha Pooja festival.
Prof. Dr. Ramachandra Gautam, a theologian, said that the tradition of worshiping the self is classical because the human soul is the biggest and most important. There is also a religious belief that if you can keep yourself happy by making yourself happy, the gods and goddesses will also be pleased and bless you and life will be worthwhile. Based on this classical belief and belief, the tradition of worshiping self has been established. This festival is celebrated in places like Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Banepa, Dhulikhel, Panauti, Bahrbise, Chautara where there is a majority of Newari community.
