Meat inspection is mandatory in Kathmandu Valley from November, it is being implemented in phases across the country

Kathmandu. The government has started the process of implementing the Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055 in a phased manner across the country. With the aim of providing quality and safe meat to the consumers, the government has prepared to implement the law gradually across the country starting from Kathmandu Valley.

Article 44 of the Constitution of Nepal ensures the fundamental right of every consumer to get quality goods and services. The government has given priority to the implementation of the Act based on the implementation of the same constitutional provisions and three different mandates and directives issued by the Supreme Court regarding the implementation of the Act.
