His nearest competitor Sushil Gurung of Nepali Congress got only 8,435 votes. The difference between Thapa and Gurung is 50 thousand 379. Similarly, CPN-UML candidate Vasudev Ghimire has received 8,275 votes, while Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RDP) candidate Gaurav Bohra has received 7,789 votes.
