Landslide in Tibet bursts a large dam, high risk in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli coastal areas
Rasuwa In the upper part of the Lhendi River in Tibet, China, a large natural lake formed by the damming of the river has burst after an avalanche. The Chinese authorities have officially informed the Nepalese side about the lake bursting. The information about the bursting of the lake, built around the confluence of the Chochen River in Tibet and the Purepu Tsangpo River in Nepal, was received from the Chinese side.
Chochen River and Purepu Tsangpo River flowing from Tibet directly merge into Trishuli River through Bhotekoshi, so there is a high risk of another severe flood in the low coastal areas.
Earlier, citing the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources, according to a report published by the "Global Times", the lake, which was blocked due to an avalanche, had accumulated about two million cubic meters of water.
