Kirtipur Cricket Stadium master plan approved, estimated to cost 10 billion for construction

Kathmandu. The government has approved the master plan for the construction of an international level cricket stadium at the Tribhuvan University campus in Kirtipur. The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday approved the master plan of the stadium on the proposal of the Ministry of Urban Development and determined the project as a national priority. According to the master plan, it is estimated to cost about 10 billion rupees for the construction of the stadium.

Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising said that the stadium is Nepal's first international cricket ground and its contribution to international sports and tourism promotion is seen to be significant.

Minister Ghising mentioned that the development and modernization of the stadium is strategically important for Nepal, and as a cricket stadium with facilities is needed to play international games, it has been decided to proceed with the construction by securing resources according to the master plan. Ghising said that as a national priority project, the approval of the Council of Ministers has been received for finalizing the land agreement, finalizing the environmental impact assessment and for the construction of the second phase for the expansion of Ragshala according to the master plan.
