Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started a separate dry waste management project with the aim of reducing the amount of waste taken to Bancharedanda. For this, the Metropolitan Corporation has started separate dry waste management from 10 wards.
Sarita Rai, head of the environment management department of the metropolitan city, informed that with the start of dry waste management, about 3.19 metric tons less waste is being managed daily in the landfill site from Kathmandu Valley. She said that the Metropolitan Corporation has divided its geographical area into seven regions to sell dry waste produced along with domestic waste from all 32 wards and has entered into an annual income contract of Rs.
At present, the work of dry waste management has been started from 7, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 27 wards of the Metropolitan Municipality. A dry waste management center has also been established by placing one waste transfer center in each area. Nepsemac Services Pvt Ltd has been selected from among the competitors for area no. 1 as per income contract procedure 2079. Ward numbers 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 are included in this area.
