It would be suicidal to maintain the status quo without holding a special convention - Arjunnar Singh KC
Kathmandu. Central member of Nepali Congress, Arjun Narasimha KC, has said that they should hold a special convention and go to the people for February elections with a new leadership and program. Writing his opinion on social media, leader KC said that without doing so, it would be an accident and suicide to remain in the status quo.
He wrote, today the country is in the stage of complex political transition. The preparation of the general election in February 2083, the people's movement for the rule of law and governance, the political message after the Gen-Z demonstration, the extreme dissatisfaction of the youth and the general public, is a clear demand and necessity of a special convention in the current context. Before the elections, it is mandatory to go to the people with new thinking, policy leadership and programs. Staying with the status quo will be an accident and suicidal.
He wrote, according to Article 17920 of the Constitution, there is a mandatory clear provision that if the Central Working Committee deems it necessary or if 40 percent of the members of the Central Convention make a written request to the Center for Special Reasons, the Central Convention must be convened within three months of the request. Similarly, Article 39120 refers to the Central Working Committee and the Central Office while Article 27, 1 clearly states that the Central Office is subordinate to the Chief Minister.
