Iran's clear stance: No deal with US unless rights are protected

Main News Image

Tehran. The cloud of uncertainty has deepened again regarding the possible agreement between the US and Iran. While discussions are going on that US President Donald Trump has put forward new and very tough proposals to Iran, Tehran has made it clear that no agreement will be possible until its rights are fully protected.

Iran's top negotiators say their old mistrust of Washington remains. Iran's senior leader, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, issued a video message through state television on Sunday, expressing his determination that the US cannot be trusted easily and that no agreement will be approved until it is certain that the rights of the Iranian people are protected.

His response came after the New York Times and Axios reported that the Trump administration had sent a revised "tough" proposal to Iran, although the details of the proposal are still under wraps.
